The 2022 MotoGP world championship ended with the world championship victory of I’m sorry Bagnaia and Ducati conqueror of the Triple Crown. After fifteen years, the Emilian brand returns to the world throne and does so by also winning the Constructors’ and Teams classification. Once the season is over, it’s also time to take stock and Dorna has released the numbers of accidents like every year-end, a ranking where no rider would ever want to excel.

A fall not only entails risks for those who become protagonists, but also a series of material and economic damages which weigh on a team’s seasonal budget. And in the 2022 season, rookie Darryn Binder, riding the Yamaha M1 from the WithU RNF team. 2022 will be remembered as a record year for accidents: Dorna counted no less than 335 in the premier class alone. It should be taken into consideration that we have had 20 GPs, a number never reached in the history of MotoGP. The circuit that has recorded the highest number of accidents is that of Portimao, also considering the prohibitive weather conditions, with a total of 105 in all three classes, while the minimum was reached in Termas del Rio Hondo, in Argentina , with only 34 slips.

The most dangerous stretch of this 2022 World Championship turned out to be turn 1 of the Sachsenring, where 21 crashes were counted at the end of the straight. As for the riders, the black jersey goes to Darryn Binder with a total of 27 times, followed by another rookie, Marco Bezzecchi, at 23 with the Ducati GP21, and by Pol Espargarò, riding the Honda RC-V with 21 accidents. On the other hand, Maverick Vinales did well with just two incidents in the course of the entire championship.
