From 1 January 2023, the new government has chosen to stop cutting excise duties on petrol. A move that many did not like. There are also some attempts to speculate on petrol prices, practiced by unscrupulous petrol station owners. But there is another newsinstead of will please many Italians. It concerns traffic fines. The Government has chosen to apply a real one amnesty in reference to fines and taxes not paid in the period between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2015. Such a move allows you to remove all tax bills up to 1000 euros. As anticipated, all the unpaid traffic fines of that particular historical period also fall within this sphere.
But do you really not have to pay even one euro for the old fines? In fact, that’s not quite the case. Indeed, they will come cancel the penalties and all default interest accumulated over many years of late payment. The fine, on the other hand, must be paid no later than 31 July 2023. In this way, it will be possible to take advantage of this amnesty approved by the Government.
If the debtor does not yet have the opportunity to pay off the debt, then he can choose to pay it all in 18 installments. An interest of 2% will then be applied to the amount.
As mentioned, the law refers to each tax bill. So, even those in reference to the car tax not paid in that particular historical period mentioned above.
This amnesty has the advantage of helping many Italians in difficulty. The scrapping of all tax pending is part of the “fiscal peace” desired by the Meloni Government.
