On the circuit Valentino Rossi concluded his first season in the Fanatec GT WCE at the wheel of aAudi R8 GT3, scoring two fifth places as best result. He did not hit the podium, but has shown that he can adapt quickly to the four wheels, after having gained a long experience in rallying and with Gran Turismo. In 2023 he is ready to try again, but with a change of brand and more.

In fact, the Belgian team Wrt of Vincent Vosse from next year will embrace the BMW brand in the race instead of the House of the Rings, but the first track tests have already begun. Valentino Rossi tested the BMW M4 GT3 for the first time in the aftermath of the last race of the season in Catalunya, immediately finding a good feeling. On Wednesday he held the first official test on the Circuit Paul Ricard of Le Castellet.

During the last MotoGP round in Valencia, Valentino Rossi arrived in the paddock on Friday evening, to be close to his students of the VR46 Academy, to his team directed by Alessio Salucci, to his protégé Pecco Bagnaia, winner of the MotoGP World Championship on the Ducati Desmosedici GP. Here he witnessed the triumph of his Savoy driver who brought the world scepter back to Italy after the Doctor did it the last time in 2009, but with a Japanese prototype (the Yamaha M1).

Immediately after the Valencia party, while his sweetheart Francesca Sofia Novello flew to Milan for work commitments, Valentino Rossi headed to France for the first official test of the Fanatec GT WCE, where he once again tested the BMW M4 GT3. Beside him his inseparable friend and collaborator Alberto Tebaldi.

During the tests in the south of France, the champion from Tavullia also got to know his new teammate Maxime Martin. Wrt is continuing tests with BMW in preparation for the 2023 season, but has not yet formalized the name of Valentino Rossi’s new teammate. After Frederic Vervisch, the 43-year-old is expected to share the wheel with another Belgian driver. For confirmation of the name we will have to wait for the BMW end-of-season party on December 8th.
