What are the speed limits on Italian motorways
In Italy on urban roads you can circulate within 50 km per hour on the roads secondary suburban areas within a maximum of 90 km per hour, on the main extra-urban roads you cannot circulate beyond 110 km per hour, while on the motorway the limit in force is 130 km per hour for cars, and 80 km per hour for lorries.
In the Highway Code however, there are exceptions according to which the speed limits can be reduced on the basis of certain weather conditions or the road surface. Consequently, in the event of rain, the limit goes from 130 km/h to 110 km/h.
Even if on the motorway the limit imposed is 130 km, in some stretches it drops to 100 km per hour. Article 117 of the Highway Code provides for a limit of 100 km per hour for new drivers. Those who exceed the speed limit by no more than 10 km/h receive a fine ranging from 41 to 168 euros. If you exceed the 10 km/h limit but do not go beyond 40 km/h, the fine ranges from 168 to 674 euros. If, on the other hand, the speed is exceeded by more than 40 km/h but the speed is not exceeded 60 km/h, the fine ranges from 527 to 2,108 euros.
