Hyper sports cars, luxury cars, limited series cars, rare and one-of-a-kind specimens: let’s see which are the most expensive cars in the world, the top 10 of 2022, comparing current prices for each model, using the list price as of the date of launch.

Some models are already on sale, others are in development and still others will go on sale without ever being driven. But the combination of performance, design and technology is set to be broken by more records in the coming years.

Why are the prices of these cars so high?

What justifies such a high price? We found out that the cheapest car in this top ten it costs just over 3 million euros. In comfort, the Ferrari Prosangue (base price 390,000 euros) appears to be a small car.

As mentioned above, high costs are determined by many factors. First of all, it is the elements that characterize it, and the timing of its realization. Custom models made to customer order can be greatly exaggerated because the claim is luxury, from on-board technology to integration options, construction materials to ultra-luxury covers, clearly convey exclusivity (the fewer models there are, the more are valuable, especially for subsequent resale).

The ranking of the 10 most expensive cars

In tenth place we find the Pagani Huayra Roadster BCone of the most expensive sports cars made by the Argentine entrepreneur with Italian origins Horacio Pagani. The basic price without options starts at “only” 3 million euros. As an engine it has a 800 HP 6-litre twin-turbo Pagani V12, developed in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG. A limited edition of 40 pieces has already been delivered to all owners.

In ninth place with fury we find the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, from Ängelholm (Sweden), produced only two specimens. Here we see a bodywork in carbon fiber covered with diamonds, the so-called Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave, an aesthetic that immediately catches the eye. The engine is a 1018 HP 4.8-litre V8, with a sprint from 0 to 100 in just 2.8 seconds. Price: 4.5 million euros.

There Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is in eighth place. Powered by a 740bhp 6.5-litre V12 engine, with a 0-100 sprint in just 2.6 seconds. Only 13 examples exist. For the coupé model, list prices in 2013 were 3 million euros, for the rodaster 3.5 million euros, but now the price of a single specimen has reached 7.5 million euros.

In seventh place we find the Mercedes Maybach Exelero, with a 690 HP 5.9-litre V12 Bi-Turbo engine, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Truly a rare and above all unique model, given that only one specimen was produced, for an “affordable” price of 8.4 million euros.

It is in sixth place Bugatti Centodieci, is based on the Bugatti Chiron with a 1600hp W16 engine that accelerates from 0 to 100 in less than two and a half seconds. Ten were built, with a price ranging from 8 million, without options, to 12.5 million euros.

In fifth place again Bugattisthis time with the Star. It has similar elements to the Chiron, including a 1,500-horsepower 8-liter W16 engine, with a 0-60 sprint in under 2.5 seconds. The name is a tribute to the French driver Albert Divo, who won the Targa Florio twice for Bugatti in the 1920s. 40 specimens produced, all delivered, the list price was 4.8 million euros.

Again Bugatti also in fourth place, with the Bugatti Volture Black, also based on the Chiron, with a 1500hp 8-litre V16 engine. Made a single specimen with a cost of more than 11 million euros.

Rolls-Royce Swepttail is in third place. This very expensive commissioned model pays homage to classic Rolls-Royce design cues but adds elements from the world of yachting. It is a coupe with a 6.75-liter V12 engine, 460 horsepower, a panoramic glass roof and many luxurious interior accessories such as champagne compartments between the seats.
