He has long been consecrated as one of the greats of modern Superbike. Jonathan Rea continues to be a protagonist in the premier class of production derivatives. Jonathan Rea, a superlative career
Originally from Bellymena, Northern Ireland, the 35-year-old pilot Superbikes is still on the crest of the wave. In this 2022 it was due bow to the incredible Bautista-Ducati pairing, but certainly not because he didn’t fight. In 36 races disputed in the 12 rounds of the season he obtained two zeros and four placements just off the podium, in all the other races the worst result it was third place. A roadmap remarkablewhich places Jonathan Rea consistently among the big of the championship. Not forgetting that since 2014 he has never come down from the world podium, while from 2015 to 2020 he shone with six titles consecutive world championships. As far as his parents say detractorscertainly they are not results that arrive by chance or just for the fast bike. Of course he hasn’t won for two years, but he doesn’t really roll out the red carpet a Toprak Razgatlioglu and ad Alvaro Bautista, his biggest opponents in the league. Close to goodbye?
Jonathan Rea he does not set limits, but evidently something is changing. “I don’t want to say this is my last contract, but I don’t want to be here in five years” the Irish champion told BikeSport. The speech of the retreat, of the end of her career, was something he had previously always avoided. This time however, close to 36 years (in less than two months) he wanted to make a comment, softening then that first sentence. “I don’t want to retire if I’m still competitive and if I enjoy it” Rea stressed. “For now I don’t think about it. I still two years of contract with Kawasaki and I am totally concentrated.” A two-year period in which to aim clearly (at least) for seven irises.
