First Photos Of Upcoming Cadillac Optiq Electric Crossover Leak Online

Cadillac Society has been following the development of a small Cadillac electric crossover that will slot under the Lyriq in the luxury marque’s EV lineup. Now, the first photos and details about the upcoming vehicle have leaked online, revealing not only that this sub-Lyriq crossover will bear the Cadillac Optiq nameplate, but also giving us a good idea of its exterior design.

You can immediately see the influence of Lyriq on the exterior design of the Cadillac Optiq. Both electric crossovers have a five-point apex-shaped grille with integrated LEDs, although the Optiq is thinner and hemmed in by body-colored fascia elements. However, what sets the Optiq apart are the headlights, which feature boomerang-like accents on either side of the grille, similar to the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4.

The profile of the Cadillac Optiq is short and muscular, although the dash to axle area is quite short. The model’s beltline cuts sharply upwards at the C-pillar before dropping at a gentle slope towards the D-pillar. The rear window appears to feature a set of horizontal styling lines for a sporty motif, matching the vertical taillight assembly pattern. Around back, the Optiq has a squat aesthetic, with bold geometric body lines complemented by curvy elements.

Cadillac Optiq will use a variant of the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, which currently underpins its big brother, the Lyriq and the upcoming Celestiq. The Optiq will feature a single rear axle-mounted Ultium Drive motor offering two power output options – 150 kW (201 horsepower) or 180 kW (241 horsepower).

The world debut of the Cadillac Optiq is expected in the second half of the 2023 calendar year. The model will be produced in China as part of the Cadillac joint venture in the country, as well as in North America for other markets.
