2024 Cadillac Lyriq Sport Spotted Without Grille Lights

For the 2024 model year, Cadillac Lyriq is getting a more complete line-up of trim levels, which will include the introduction of the Lyriq Sport and Lyriq Premium Luxury to sit above the base Luxury trim currently offered. As previously reported by Cadillac Society, The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Sport will get a unique “lattice” LED pattern that will set it apart from the rest of the lineup, and we even saw examples for the first time back in September. Now, Cadillac Society spotted other The Lyriq Sport is out and about, although this particular model is very different compared to models we’ve seen before, as it lacks some of the grille lighting elements.

Because the Cadillac Lyriq is an electric vehicle, there is no need for the open front grille to allow air to enter the internal combustion engine (ICE). Instead, the fascia features sturdy shield-like panels in the same places where an ICE-powered vehicle would have its top grille. At Lyriq, these panels are illuminated by LEDs for several design styles.

However, this particular Lyriq Sport, which is painted in Stellar Black Metallic (paint code GB8), lacks the faux grille backlighting, which we have seen on the 2024 Lyriq Sport in the Chinese market. Additionally, this particular luxury crossover features chrome-plated headlamp bezels, as opposed to the black bezels found on the Chinese model.

True to the Sport trim level, black trim can be found around the vehicle’s side windows, giving the unit an overall more sinister appearance. There’s also a set of black door handles and wheels with dark accents. This dark theme carries over to the rear of the crossover, as the taillights have been darkened to reveal a smoke-clear finish (Neutral Density).

All of that said we’re looking at a bit of mystery here. Either this unit is a unique Lyriq trim level or package that Cadillac hasn’t announced yet, or it’s a more basic version of the Lyriq Sport, possibly without the performance AWD drivetrain.

As a reminder, Lyriq uses the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, and is assembled at its Spring Hill factory in Tennessee for all markets except China. It is offered with two powertrains. A basic single-motor setup featuring one Ultium motor mounted on the rear axle, produces 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque for an estimated 312 miles of range. The second is the dual-motor Performance AWD setup that makes over 500 horsepower.
