Volvo To Launch At Least 6 New EVs In 2026: Report

Volvo is one automaker that has promised to go electric-only by the end of the decade. The Swedish company is investing a lot of money into changing its product range and production facilities, and it turns out that many new electric vehicles are in development. According to a new report, Volvo will launch at least six new battery-powered vehicles by 2026.

This information comes from Reuters who cited “two people with knowledge of the plan”. Volvo will reportedly convert its core model, including all of its SUVs, sedans and wagons, to electric vehicles and launch a new luxury electric van for the China market. In Australia, Volvo will switch to a pure electric range in 2026.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Volvo was planning to release its own version of the Zeekr 009 MPV for the Asian market. The brand had never produced a family van in the past and wanted to play it safe by using the existing model as a base. According to available information, the styling of the MPV will be changed to suit Volvo’s design language. There may be changes under the hood too.

interestingly, Reuters also reported that Volvo has moved development work on its future sedan and three-row van to its research center in Shanghai. The publication also speculates that the XC90 and XC60 SUVs will be converted into electric vehicles. The same seems to be true for the S60 and S90 and, we presume, the V60 and V90 wagon versions respectively.

Volvo’s latest new product is the EX90, which is a large three-row electric SUV that debuted in North America during CES 2023 last month. The vehicle has a massive 111-kWh battery pack, good for around 300 miles per charge. The most powerful version featured a dual-motor setup with a peak output of 496 horsepower (370 kilowatts) and 671 pound-feet (910 Newton-meters) of instantaneous torque. The 2024 EX90 is available now for pre-order in the United States, although a price has yet to be determined.
