Buick Encore GX Redesigned Spying Naked While Testing

The Buick Encore GX has been in production since 2019, so it’s time for a refresh to come. And as it happened, the facelifted version was spy-tested on US shores – and GM didn’t even bother covering the unit in camouflage.

With the model announced early in China back in November, we already know what the new Encore GX will look like. The test vehicle that our eyes saw was no different. Most of the changes are found on the front end, which is all important to keep the model fresh for the crossover/SUV-hungry US market.

The updates to the front fascia make the new Encore GX look very different from its predecessors. Inspired by the Buick Electra-X EV Concept, the crossover now uses a discrete lighting configuration, with thin daytime running lights above and headlights hidden within faux air vents in the bumper.

The larger, wider grille also looks different, outlined by a hard-to-miss chrome strip. The most important. The simplified Buick badge is now used on the refreshed Encore GX, which is also found on the back.

Unfortunately, the changes to the rear fascia end there. Buick hasn’t provided any other updates to the rear, which can also be said of the crossover’s side profile. The same can be said of the powertrain offerings, but we wouldn’t be surprised if there will be changes at launch.

Speaking of which, we expect Buick to launch the new Encore GX for the US market soon, slotting it in between the Encore and Envision. However, since the outgoing model is already advertised as a 2023 model, we can expect the new model to arrive in showrooms in 2024 as soon as possible.
