The first VW ID. The Buzz Camper Convertible Doesn’t Come From a Factory

Volkswagen has officially announced that they are working on a camper version of the ID. Buzz but it won’t come until the middle of the decade. You don’t have to wait until 2025 to get a practical motor home based on an electric bus because a German company has launched the ID. Buzz’s camper conversion during the world’s largest consumer fair for tourism and leisure held in Stuttgart.

From the outside, the Alpin Camper bus doesn’t look much different from the stock ID. buzzing. There are some notable changes, however, including a small protective bar at the front and an extendable roof awning. The bus is finished in white with contrast lacquered black elements.

The interior is completely new. There is a relatively spacious living area, furnished with a long bench that converts into a full-size bed for two. There is also a mini kitchen with an electric water heating system with a canister and a drawer with an integrated refrigerator under the bench. Everything is made of eco-friendly materials and comes with bright colors, making the area look wider than it really is.

That extendable roof top tent does not serve a true sleeping purpose as it simply provides the camper with more space and standing height. More practical solutions could come in the future, although one clever solution we like is that all the electrical components for the living area are hidden under the passenger seat.

We do not have any information regarding the ID powertrain. Buzz but we doubt any changes have been made to the electric drive system. As a reminder, electric buses are driven by electric motors with a peak output of 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) and 229 pound-feet (310 Newton-meters) of torque. A dual motor version will be launched soon.

As a final note, Volkswagen will also be debuting the factory camper conversion for the ID. Buzz as demand for the brand’s camper van has increased over the past few years. It is too early for official details but it is believed to be the ID. California will drive a longer wheelbase version of the ID. buzzing.
