Cadillac Celestiq Prototype Spotted With Carbon Fiber Body

The highly anticipated Cadillac Celestiq has finally been revealed in production form in mid-October 2022, showcasing the luxury marque’s all-new, fully electric ultra-luxury flagship sedan. Cadillac Society we’ve seen prototypes of the Celestiq undergo testing in the past, and now, we’ve seen another example sporting a rather interesting carbon fiber body panel.

The body panels of this particular Cadillac Celestiq are color-matched, although they all appear to sport a matte black look. This is par of the course for prototypes, which are often unpainted to speed development.

It’s also worth noting that while the front fascia is camouflaged in black and white, the rest of the ultra-luxury sedan’s body lacks camouflage, although the doors appear to have a bandage.

The rear quarter panels of this prototype, down to the C-pillars, are composed entirely of carbon fiber. According to the luxury marque, the use of carbon fiber allows designers to “create distinctive shapes that are not possible with traditional metal body panels”. That doesn’t mean the Celestiq doesn’t feature any metal body panels, though. In fact, the Celestiq features a metal grille, headers, rockers, taillamp and headlamp trim, bodyside trim, and trunk liner. Additionally, other components will be 3D printed, including many interior elements.

At this time, it’s unclear whether the bare carbon fiber panels seen on this Cadillac Celestiq prototype indicate that customers will be able to opt for the unpainted carbon fiber woven look. This may not be out of the realm of possibility, as the Celestiq is touted as the most customizable Caddy, allowing customers to control even the most minor aspects of ultra-luxury sedan design. To allow for limited attention to detail, the Celestiq will be built entirely by hand – sparing battery and certain drivetrain components – at the GM Global Technical Center.

In terms of power, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq has a 111 kWh battery pack and a dual motor all-wheel drive system. Cadillac estimates that this configuration will provide a driving range of around 300 miles on a single charge while providing 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, enabling the ultra-luxury sedan to sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
