Lucid Air Grand Touring Now Offered With Fewer Features For $138,000

While prices for many new and used vehicles continue to increase, Lucid offers buyers a less expensive option considering the Air Grand Touring. If you can live without a few high-end features, the price of this luxury sedan drops to $138,000. Fear not, performance fans. The EV’s blazing power and impressive range are still included at this level.

What exactly is different? Lucid is now offering a new configuration for Grand Touring, making previous standard edition items such as the DreamDrive Pro, Surreal Sound Pro and 21-inch Aero Blade wheels optional. That drops the price from $154,000 to $138,000 while keeping the basic Dream Drive and Surreal Sound systems, not to mention other luxury touches like massage chairs.

The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Grand Touring powertrain is included at this price point. To refresh your memory, it produces a combined 819 horsepower (611 kilowatts) with 885 pound-feet (1,200 Newton-meters) of torque. That’s enough to send the 2.5-ton luxury sedan to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds off, but if you easily step on the gas, there’s enough electricity in the 112-kWh battery pack to run 516 miles between charging stops. That’s the EPA’s estimated range, and can reclaim 300 miles on a high-speed charger in 21 minutes.

Lucid said the equipment change was due to customer feedback from people who wanted more flexibility when ordering Air Grand Touring. At $138,000, it’s still more expensive than the Tesla Model S Plaid, but only slightly. It’s also slower, although context is important here because no one calls a 3.0-second to 60 mph run slow. However, Lucid has completely dominated Tesla in range, with Plaid having an EPA estimated rating of 396 miles. The standard S model with less power is only marginally better at 405 miles.

As for Porsche, the most competitive Taycan in terms of power is the Turbo S but still falls short of 750 hp. The range is also less than half the Air Grand Touring mark at 222 miles, and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S costs from $187,400.
