See Ford CEO Jim Farley Scare Jimmy Fallon In The Mustang Supercar Hot Lap

Jimmy’s family is at it again. In the passenger seat of the Australian-spec Ford Mustang Gen2 Supercar racing car, there is a comedian and Show Tonight host Jimmy Fallon. The other seat is occupied by Ford CEO and part-time race car driver Jimmy Farley, although we suspect he may have preferred Jim. Based on the video preview image at the top of the article, you can guess how casual driving plays on this race track.

Stupid happened on the M1 Concourse about 30 miles north of Detroit in Pontiac, Michigan. After gearing up, they tied to the ‘Handlebar with Farley promising some slow warm-up laps to start. It didn’t last long, and while Fallon is definitely putting on a show for the cameras, we suspect there are some moments of legitimate terror, or at least disturbing worry.

As for Farley, he seems to be having a great time. Despite running one of the largest auto manufacturing companies in the world, the full-time Ford CEO still enjoys racing and is occasionally out of the office for some race time. Having the ability to race is part of his CEO deal, and he seems no stranger to high-output race cars… despite telling Fallon he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

For those who are interested in the Mustang Supercar, this is not a supercar in the same class as a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. The Australian Supercar Championship is a racing series similar to NASCAR, although the action takes place on a road course rather than an oval track.

Ford previously campaigned for an Australian-only Falcon sedan in the series, so the Gen2 Mustang race car featured in this video looks a bit odd. When switching from Falcon to Mustang, the chassis was taken from the Falcon so it’s not a clean-sheet setup for the S550 Mustang body. That’s about to change with the new Gen3 Mustang Supercar, which was revealed earlier this year.

Will Fallon get another ride in the new race car? After this experience with Farley behind the wheel, maybe the better question is, right? want to one?
