Rise Of The Beasts Trailer Starring An Air-Cooled Porsche 911

The first trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beast out, and if you’re a fan of the air-cooled Porsche 911, there’s reason to be happy. At least in the trailer, the silver 964-era 911 is prominently featured.

Could this be Jazz? Old school Transformers fans know that the OG Jazz is the Porsche 911 with the biggest whale tail ever. She also super cool, and it looks like this transformed Porsche is showing a bit of swagger as it switches to robot mode. There’s even a resemblance to Jazz from the first live-action Transformers film in 2007, in which he is forced to live as a Pontiac Solstice until (thankfully, some might say) it splits in two.

This new film seems to tug at the heartstrings of the first generation even more Transformers fans versus Michael Bay era films, especially with Optimus Prime easily recognizable as the red Freightliner semi-cab truck. However, this sleek 911 is most likely an Autobot Mirage, as the trailer shows Porsche creating a mirage of another Porsche during a police chase. Jazz never had that ability, and also, a quick check of the Internet Movie Database lists Mirage as a character, with Jazz not mentioned in the cast. Disappointment.

We’re obviously intrigued by the car, but the new film delivers on that as well Beast Wars: Transformers saga to the big screen. Airing on television until the second half of the 1990s, it is a follow-up to the animated original Transformers 80’s series. As the name suggests, the transforming robots from this era use various animals for their alt mode. The leader of the good guys (called the Maximals) is – you guessed it – Optimus Primal.

Based on the other cars seen in the trailer, the setting appears to be the mid-1990s. This is the seventh live-action Transformers film in the franchise and the second was not directed by Michael Bay, although he is listed as a producer. Transformers: Rise of the Beast is scheduled to hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
