For the first time since its introduction for the 2020 model year, the Cadillac CT5 has accumulated enough reliability data to earn a recommended rating from Consumer Reports

The 2024 Cadillac CT5 earned 69/100 points overall, ranking it eighth among 12 luxury compact cars considered in the study. Specifically, it was commended for offering a dynamic ride with impressive handling, although it was dinged for its “unrefined” powertrain that could turn potential buyers off when comparing to other vehicles within its class. The 2024 Cadillac CT5 was given a score of 84 of a possible 100 points in terms of driving experience, while raking 86/100 on the comfort scale. It was also scored highly for its styling, earning 83 points for its looks inside and out.

However, the CT5 was granted a less-than-stellar score in terms of predicted reliability, earning 45/100 points, placing it just below average among competitors in the category. By comparison, the 2024 Lexus IS led the segment with 79/100 points, followed by the 2024 Acura TLX with 70/100 points. The CT5 was scored higher compared to the 2024 Genesis G70 with 45/100 points, 2024 Audi Allroad with 42/100 points, the 2024 Audi A4 with 42/100 points, among others.

The survey found that the 2024 Cadillac CT5 performs well in terms of its drivetrain and major mechanical components, along with its steering and suspension. However, it didn’t score very well in terms of perceived build quality, with complaints regarding its electrical accessories, body hardware, along with paint and trim. Overall, owners are satisfied with the CT5, earning it a score of 3/5, and 64 percent of its buyers indicated they would purchase the luxury sedan again.

The study used the Auto Reliability Survey to gather information for the 2024 Cadillac CT5, a well as other models. The research evaluated responses from owners of 330,000 total vehicles and focused on 20 possible problem areas, ranging from the engine and transmission to infotainment systems.
