This Modified Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 Pulls Nearly 800 HP On Dyno

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is considered by many to be one of the greatest GT-Rs of all time. Released in 1999, the R34 is the latest iteration of the legendary Nissan Skyline GT-R series, which has been in production since 1969.

The R34 GT-R’s popularity has grown since it was discontinued in 2002, with enthusiasts and collectors alike now seeking examples in good condition. His status as a true icon of Japan’s sports car regime has been further cemented by his numerous appearances in popular video games, movies and anime. It was the last of its kind, before Nissan separated the Skyline from the GT-R nameplate, presenting the durable yet up-to-date GT-R R35.

The R34 GT-R is renowned for its versatility, being comfortable both on the road and on the track. Its relatively luxurious interior, comfortable seats and state-of-the-art infotainment system make it a pleasure to drive on long journeys, while its high performance capabilities make it a thrilling experience when pushed to the limit.

The R34 GT-R is also known for its handling and stability, thanks to its advanced all-wheel drive and sophisticated suspension setups. The aerodynamic design and weight distribution of the car also make it very capable on the track.

However, the R34 GT-R is renowned for its tunability, making it a popular choice among performance enthusiasts. In stock form, the car is powered by a 2.6-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing 276 horsepower (206 kilowatts) and 289 pound-feet (392 Newton-meters) of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles. per hour (97 kilometers per hour) in just 4.5 seconds.

The modified GT-R in the video embedded above is much more powerful. During running on the dynamometer, its best drag registered just a hair’s breadth of more than 800 horse metrics, or about 789 hp (588 kW).

That’s a huge leap, and we’re curious to see how far the modifications go. We’d expect an improved turbocharger, intercooler, exhaust system and air intake system, but who knows? Then again, this isn’t the most powerful R34 GT-R we’ve seen, with one example even making up to 1,000 hp.
