2021 Cadillac Escalade Recalled For Noncompliant DRLs

Cadillac parent company General Motors has issued a recall for some 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV units to address an issue with the luxury SUV’s daytime running lights (DRL), which may fail to be disabled.

Problem: Affected vehicles may have faulty daytime running lights (DRLs) that may not turn off when the headlights are turned on. Thus, the DRL does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, which refers to “Lights, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment.”

The danger: DRLs that fail to deactivate while the headlights are on can cause glare to oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of an accident.

Repair: Dealer technicians will update the body control module (BCM) software in affected 2021 Cadillac Escalade units. These updates can be done on the spot at a dealer service center or via an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge to the vehicle owner.
