1957 Chevy Bel Air Gets Much Needed Interior Wash Before Restoration

We are happy to report that at least one more second-generation Chevrolet Bel Air will be saved. This one has been lying dormant in an old garage (which actually collapsed on top of the car) but luckily, it’s getting the attention it deserves. However before restoration can begin, the vehicle needs to be thoroughly washed which will reveal its true condition.

This is actually the second video in this Bel Air series. The first, people in WD details Give the exterior of the car a detailed wash, but now it’s time for the interior to get a much-needed clean. We have to admit that this is one of the worst condition interiors we’ve ever seen and we doubt cleaning and washing will bring much improvement. The good news is that many of the components in the cabin are not even original and the detailing team only needed to take out all the parts that were not needed to make it easier for the restoration team to work on.

For starters, the seats are not original and the mounts are covered in rust. As the process of preparing the interior for the restoration progressed, it became clear that nearly everything in the car needed to be taken away and would likely be out of use when the rebuild began. The chairs, the ceiling, the door panels, the carpet… everything was simply thrown away. It doesn’t make the car look any better, though it is a great basis for an upcoming restoration.

There’s more good news. The car will be restored to its original form by another Youtuber and the whole process will be filmed and released. We can’t wait to see the poor 1957 Bel Air hit the road again and we’ll be sure to keep up with the whole process. It’s gonna be epic.

Unfortunately, we can’t hear the car’s V8 engine in this video. There seems to be a problem with the cable but at least the machine isn’t stuck. The previous owner last used the car in 1993 and had been neglected for 30 years. Will it run like new? Let’s hope so.
