The RC Classic VW Beetle got us off to an early start on our vacation

We’re just past the middle of the first month of 2023, but we’re already looking forward to our next vacation. That’s because we’ve found the first entry to our holiday wishlist: the classic radio-controlled Volkswagen Beetle from ROC Hobby.

Produced for almost 70 years, the Volkswagen Beetle or People’s Car left a lot of impressions on our childhood. After all, more than 21 million units were sold, making him a worldwide automotive icon. This RC model in RTR Gray tugs at our heartstrings and we couldn’t blame you if it was yours too.

Just like the original, the RC VW Beetle comes with its motor at the back, although it is battery operated. It also has four independent suspensions. But unlike the real Beetle, this model comes with a two-speed transmission and a button to switch from RWD to 4WD.

We also love the detail on this scale replica. There are realistic fabric soft rubber seats and a work light, while the engine hatch, doors and front compartment can all be opened. There’s even a spare tire stored in the front trunk, plus a canopy that opens to bring sunlight into the cabin.

The 1:12 scale model measures over 13.3 inches (339 mm) long, 5.5 inches (139 mm) wide and 5.5 inches (139 mm) high. It has a long wheelbase of 8.0 in (202mm).

Out of the box, the RC VW Beetle comes with a 130 Brushed motor powered by a 7.4V 380mAh 2S Lipo battery, good for a maximum speed of 5 miles per hour (8 kilometers per hour). There are also 9g servos, which control the steering and front wheels in sync.

Price? FMS Hobby lists the classic VW Beetle ROC Hobby RC for only $189.99. Only four AAA batteries for the transmitter are needed to power it out of the box.
