Ferrari F40 With Liberty Walk Widebody Kit Debuts At Tokyo Auto Salon

Ferrari fans, check it out. The F40 was an 80s superstar and its limited production has turned it into a classic. Tuning one is probably the last thing you should do and show fans, let alone dissect the fenders, slam them into the ground, and paint them white.

But Japanese tuner Liberty Walk did just that and showed it in metal at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon. It follows the wide-body kit teaser the company showed off last year, though that one does come in a more acceptable red.

The social media post embedded above shows a wide-body Ferrari F40 in white in metal, which you can also access via the source link below. The video at the top of this page shows the actual opening at the auto show.

As you can see, the converted supercar comes with a new front cowl, duct covers, headlight covers, splitter side skirts, rear wing, diffuser and wider fenders. There is also a large opening on the bonnet and one NACA duct in the middle instead of the original two. The pop-up light is gone, thanks (or no thanks?) to the widebody conversion.

Whether or not these aftermarket transformations are sacrilege is entirely up to you. But judging by the comments made while the vehicle was being teased, this is not going to be received well by fans.

Liberty Walk didn’t say whether any engine tuning was involved, but we suspect the company didn’t touch the F40’s twin-turbo 2.9-liter V8. Of note, the forced-induced mill is factory rated at 471 horsepower (351.5 kilowatts) and 426 pound-feet (577 Newton-meters) of torque, exclusively mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The Japanese tuning company did not disclose the price of the F40 widebody kit. The website has products listed although the prices section is labeled “Ask”. With a conversion this controversial, we’re sure the parts won’t be too friendly for now, but who knows?

How about you? What can you say about this new Liberty Walk creation? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
