For CES 2023, Chrysler isn’t debuting a full vehicle but we’ll be looking into it. The Synthesis cockpit demonstrator could have the coolest name of anything debuting at this year’s show, but it’s not just a what-if glimpse of the distant future. It serves as a preview for the interior of the near-term Chrysler EV, both in design and features.
Specifically, Chrysler Synthesis uses state-of-the-art STLA technology from the automaker’s parent company, Stellantis. Those include STLA Smart Cockpit, STLA Brain, and STLA AutoDrive, the latter of which includes Level 3 autonomous capabilities in permitted areas. All combined, Chrysler calls this cockpit Advanced Technology for Real Life – catering to the personalized needs of the driver and passengers from the moment they enter the vehicle, to the moment they leave.

What exactly does that mean? The Smart Cockpit is basically an infotainment system that spans most of the dashboard. Measuring just over 37 inches, there are screens for the driver and passengers to access. That’s where Brain comes in, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence to handle over-the-air updates in the background. It also learns driver preferences over time, and a virtual personal assistant is on hand to suggest everything from driving routes and charging locations, to managing your busy schedule calendar. We’ve already touched on AutoDrive, which is capable of driving hands-off, eye-free Level 3 autonomous cars.
Beyond technology, Synthesis offers a taste of interior design direction for future Chryslers. There’s a clear shortage of chrome among 100 percent sustainable materials, and by Chrysler are referring to recycled plastics, “responsibly sourced” wood and plant-tanned seats. The overall design is inspired by the Airflow Concept that arrived at CES last year, and the production version of the vehicle will be the first in North America to feature STLA Stellantis technology.
