Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class Caught Moving In Daylight

Mercedes-Benz will be launching its next-generation E-Class soon, even if it’s not happening this year (if you’re reading this it’s 2022). In fact, the automaker isn’t done with developing the E-Class yet as another prototype has already been spotted on German public roads, courtesy walkoARTvideos on YouTube.

Sporting less camouflage than before and a lighter body colour, the spy video shows a clear change in the E-Class’ side profile. Apart from slightly deviating from the current silhouette, the character lines are also different. The continuous line connecting the headlights and taillights is now broken by the center section, somehow emphasizing the fenders.

Another expected design change is the door handles, which are now hidden a la The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Unlike previous sightings (see gallery above) which sported a set of 15-inch wheels on high-profile tires, a recent spy video shows the E-Class fitted with a set of black rims.

The front and rear fascias of this prototype are still sketchy, so we expect a lot of changes in this area at launch. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that there will be style cues coming from the S-Class flag carrier.

Needless to say, the cabin of the next-gen E-Class will also get a major overhaul. Our spies have seen the interior of the production prototype before, showing off the all-new dashboard layout. While some parts are still covered, a large central display is visible in the open, resembling what you’ll see on the Mercedes EQE. The entire dash is expected to be covered in glass to match the other new Mercs in the lineup. Sources say the 11.9-inch screen from the C-Class will be standard in the new E-Class, with the 12.9-inch OLED display from the S-Class available as an option.

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class is expected to be revealed in the first half of 2023, likely arriving later in showrooms as the 2024 model.
