Tuners Build a Tesla Model Y For Off-Road Duty

German tuner Delta4x4 specializes in extensive off-road builds such as putting a Mercedes-Benz G 500 on a track and turning a Rolls-Royce Cullinan into a roof-top overlander. The company’s latest creation is the Tesla Model Y which is ready to be dirtied.

The Delta4x4’s work on the Model Y includes 1.378 inches (35 millimeters) of suspension lift. It also widened the track and added 2.362 inches (60 mm) fender flares to make room for Continental Cross Contact ATR 265/45R20 tires. The extra lift from the high-profile rubber gives Tesla a total ground clearance of 8.661 inches (22 centimeters).

The Y model uses a roof rack to store tools such as a recovery board, shovel, water canister, spare wheel and storage box. A light bar is in front of him.

For even more off-road lighting, Delta4x4 mounts four PIAA LED spotlights to the front bumper.

Photos show the rig climbing snow-covered hills and running through mud. While the Tesla doesn’t look as capable as some of the other wider Delta4x4 builds, it still seems to have plenty of additional off-road capability.

For people in Germany interested in this build, Delta4x4 charges 900 euros ($955 at current exchange rates) for the suspension lifts. The wheel and tire combo starts at 4,500 euros ($4,775). The roof rack is 2,900 euros ($3,078), and the additional light bar is 900 euros. The lights on the bumper, including mounting, are 1,800 euros ($1,910).

Latest software update gives the Model Y Track Mode Performance, which was a mode previously exclusive to the Model S Plaid and Model 3 Performance. It added many features such as making custom settings for various drivetrain variables, recording laps with the onboard camera, and tracking telemetry on the track.

Tesla is allegedly preparing a major upgrade for Model Y AWD Standard Range in 2023. It will adopt the more advanced 4680-type cylindrical battery cells.
