E-Ray Corvette 2024 Accidentally Leaks in the Chevrolet Visualizer

Christmas came earlier this year for Corvette fans because Chevrolet accidentally revealed an E-Ray on its website where the visualizer went too early. A member of MidEngineCorvetteForum made a discovery while playing with the configurator when he came across 2024MY, complete with a new electrified version. Right off the bat, we should point out that there’s no specs available, but the quad exhaust confirms that it’s a hybrid.

Take a look at the lower right corner of most screenshots and you’ll see Chevy intends to sell the car next summer. That tells us that an official reveal could be in the first months of 2023, possibly during the spring. When it debuts, E-Ray will have three new paint finishes to show off: Cacti, Riptide Blue Metallic, and Sea-Wolf Gray Tri-Coat. That stark green color is already on Trax, which adds credibility to this big leak.

It’s safe to assume this isn’t just an elaborate fake as Chevy has indirectly confirmed the 2024 E-Ray is very real. contacted by Corvette Bloggers, a company rep said: “Looks like the holidays have come early for some astute Corvette fans. Stay tuned for more.” Needless to say, the visualizer was removed, but not before quick thinkers rushed to take screenshots. It’s easy to see that the Z06 has wider hips, but they’re all painted the same color as the body.

It’s not just the body that’s been carried over from the Z06 as the E-Ray seems to have got all the goodies, with the obvious exception of the flat-plane LT6. It’s missing the mid-mounted exhaust tip from the Spicy version, but other than that, it’s pretty much the same. The absence of a charging port means it won’t be a plug-in hybrid.

A button mounted on the left side of the center console indicates what appears to turn the regenerative braking system on/off. In hybrids and EVs, it harvests energy that would otherwise be lost under braking and returns it to the battery. The button next to it functions to start/stop to increase the efficiency of the naturally aspirated LT2 engine.

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is believed to be all-wheel drive, with a V8 driving the rear wheels and an electric motor up front. It is said to be the replacement for the Grand Sport and will be followed later this decade by a confirmed pure electric model.
