Kia EV6 GT Vs Aventador SVJ Drag Race Ends With Shocking Results

A decade ago, the conversation about fast cars wouldn’t mention Kia straight from the showroom. But with electrification taking its course, times have changed and we are now in an era when Kia is actually not far behind Lamborghini in terms of straight-line speed.

In CarwowIn the latest video, the newly launched Kia EV6 GT competes against the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ for a straight line contest. While you might scoff at the idea of a modest electric crossover, and a Kia at that, against V12 power, you’d be surprised to learn that the Korean car actually has more torque than the Italian supercar.

Powering the EV6 GT is an ensemble of two electric motors, producing up to 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 546 pound-feet (740 Newton-meters) of torque. By comparison, the Aventador Super Veloce Jota produces more bangs from its naturally aspirated V12 engine at 759 hp (566 kW) but slightly less in traction at 531 lb-ft (720 Nm). Both are moved in all four corners.

For the record, the Kia is significantly heavier than the Lambo, but that doesn’t matter. In the video, the EV6 GT is seen making a fine launch against the Aventador SVJ. The supercar still beats the EV, which deserves another spin.

For round two of the drag race, Mat Watson returned in a different looking “Kia”. That’s actually the Audi RS E-Tron GT, which tried to beat the Aventador SVJ but failed in a decent way.

But that’s not the surprising part. While the Aventador SVJ completes the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds in the video, the RS E-Tron GT is close behind with a time of 11.2 seconds. However, the Kia EV6 GT was also not left behind with a time of 11.9 seconds.

So yes, we are now living in a time when the Kia was just one second slower than the Lamborghini. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
