The Return of the Toyota Land Cruiser to the US Could Still Happen

The Toyota Land Cruiser is an iconic nameplate – one that transcends global popularity. However, the US lost its latest iteration, with Toyota North America removing the full-size SUV from last year’s range for undisclosed reasons.

Of course, you can still get a more luxurious version in the form of the very highly rated Lexus LX in our review. The more affordable 2023 Toyota Sequoia is also your option, which is now based on the same TNGA platform as the Land Cruiser 300, Tundra and Lexus LX. But if you want a full-fledged Land Cruiser and all the heritage that comes with the nameplate, then, sadly, that’s no longer possible.

That could eventually change according to Jack Hollis, executive vice president of sales for Toyota Motor North America.

In an interview with Motor TrendHollis confirmed that the company will likely bring the new Land Cruiser to the US, marking the return of the legendary SUV.

“Are we ever going to? I’d say most likely yes,” said Hollis Motor Trend.

However, don’t get your hopes up just yet. Hollis did not confirm that this would happen for the foreseeable future, saying that “it’s a long way off.”

While we don’t have a clear timeline on the Land Cruiser’s return to the US market, it’s still comforting to fans hoping to hear that Toyota isn’t closing its door on the possibility.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 has enjoyed global acclaim since its introduction last year. The requests were unreasonable, so much so that Toyota had to apologize for the long waiting list, which was confirmed to be extended to four years.

We’ll see if Toyota North America will finally bring the J300 to US shores in the next few years. For now, all we can do is wait with the rest of the world.
