Porsche Taycan Performance Kit May Be Available Outside Germany

The Porsche Taycan holds the EV record around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes and 33.35 seconds. Soon, you may be able to add an optional performance package from the factory to make the machine look like a record car. It is readily available from the Tequipment accessory range in Germany.

A Porsche spokesman told Car that the company is considering offering the package. The challenge will be getting approval for upgrades in each market if needed. Plus, there’s been customer demand issues for the package, which costs €13,377 ($13,882 at current exchange rates) in Germany.

Motor1.com contacted Porsche North America to inquire about packages for this market. “We are currently investigating the possibility,” a spokesperson said.

The update package focuses on improving the handling of the Taycan. This includes 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels. This design is already available for the Turbo S trim in the US as a $600 option. The Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are 265mm wide at the front and 305mm at the rear. There is also special software for the Porsche 4D Chassis Control suspension system.

When Porsche sent the Taycan around the ‘Ring, it said a performance kit would be available for the 2023 Turbo S in Germany from the end of the year. The company makes the retrofit available to owners after the initial delivery.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S generates 751 horsepower (560 kilowatts) and 774 pound-feet (1,049 Newton-meters) of Overboost Power during launch control. In this mode, the car reaches 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 2.6 seconds. During normal driving, there is 617 hp (460 kW) of power. The EPA’s estimated range is 222 miles (357 kilometers).

A hotter Taycan may be on the way. Recent spy shots show a model under development with a more aggressive front fascia. It also has fixed wings at the rear. The yellow brake calipers indicate there are carbon-ceramic rotors, and this model uses cut-spoke wheels. We don’t know when this vehicle will debut.
