2023 Mercedes GLC Coupe Spied In Germany With Open Interior

In June 2022, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new GLC, which is slated to become one of the brand’s best-selling models in the coming years. The arrival of the new crossover means a coupe-fied version is also in development and we hope it will debut this year. Until that happens, we can get an early look at the GLC Coupe via a batch of new spy photos.

This isn’t the first spyshot of the 2023 GLC Coupe as we’ve spied the model several times before, including a few AMG-branded prototypes. This new test vehicle, however, was photographed in a parking lot on the island of Sylt in northern Germany with no camouflage covering its cabin.

What you can see through the windows isn’t all that surprising. The layout is completely identical to that seen on the new GLC which closely resembles the interior of the current C-Class. The dashboard is dominated by a large central screen and there are three round air vents above it. Another smaller screen acts as an instrument cluster which is positioned directly behind the wheel. Overall, it’s an intimate and handsome interior.

The new C-Class and GLC indicate the future development direction of the GLC Coupe with regards to the available engines. The GLC is currently only available with a four-cylinder engine and in the US market, there are two variants on sale – the GLC 300 and the GLC 300 4Matic. Both use a 2.0-liter engine with 258 horsepower (192 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque, supported by an integrated starter-generator for an additional 23 hp (17 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) boost torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is the only one available.

Needless to say, the GLC Coupe will be mechanically identical to the more traditional GLC. This means the aforementioned engines will most likely be carried over to the newer models without any changes. In Europe, there is also a diesel engine available in select markets, and Mercedes is expected to add a new six-cylinder diesel factory soon, which may also join the GLC Coupe lineup at some point.
