Lotus now has an SUV in the form of Eletre. But if high-riding vehicles aren’t your thing, a low-key four-door is already in the works from British automaker Geely.
Known internally as the Type 133, the Lotus electric sedan will be called the Envya based on a trademark filing. Prototypes are already on the way, with spyshots already posted on Chinese social media site Weibo. But for a better idea of how it looks, our compatriots from Motorcycle provides us with an unofficial rendering of the Envya electric sedan based on the Eletre SUV.

The renderings envision an Eletre with a coupe-like roofline and low body. It looks good in this form, especially if you’re not a fan of many of the SUVs on the market today.
While the renderings heavily adopt the Eletre design, Lotus indicated earlier that the Envya would be more than just a low-key version of the SUV. Peter Horbury, Senior VP of Design at Lotus, said that “each member of the family can have their own character”, meaning that the sedan will likely have its own design distinction within Lotus’ newly discovered range of vehicles.
As for the powertrain, information is scarce at this point but expecting the same setup as with the Eletre is not far-fetched. That said, a two-motor AWD setup for the Porsche Taycan battle model could happen, with an output of 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). The range can be up to 373 miles (600 kilometers) from the 112 kilowatt-hour battery pack. Just like the Eletre, a hotter version is expected, armed with three motors producing a total of 905 hp (675 kW).
The Lotus Envya is slated to arrive in 2025, so expect a full reveal in the second half of next year or early 2024. We’ll be hearing more about this month’s model ahead of its launch.
